A restaurant review on the Creekside site? What’s going on…
Some of you know that I love food. I love to eat out. I love to eat in. I love BBQ.
I appreciate the ambiance that restaurant owners try to create, and the deliciousness that chefs create.
Good food is a passion that most Creeksiders share.
We talk a lot about food in the office… a lot.
So, I’ve decided to write a bit about some local establishments, just for fun, on our blog.
Local Pub Eatery
In a complete and utter failure of our dinner planning schedule, our family found ourselves without dinner tonight. We then randomly wandered about in search of food, and we ended up at the Local Pub Eatery at Lansdowne.
Yes, I realize they’re the ones who have been in the news lately for their controversial sandwich board text about Budweiser.
If you were to speculate that it was not my choice to go here, you’d be right.
In any case, the servers were very friendly (checking in on us a few too many times for my liking), and the atmosphere is very Vancouver’s Yaletown Brew Pub-ish (which I love by the way).
The drinks menu was decent. The actual menu was limited to primarily burgers and salads, but the chefs really prepared and presented the food nicely.
I chose this off the menu: Ginger Sesame Chicken Salad – Drunken ginger dressing, avocado, cucumber, crispy tortillas. I wasn’t expecting it to be uber-spicy, but it was for my taste. That said, those who know me know that I can be a bit (completely) wimpy when it comes to spices.
Anyway, lots of big screen tvs showing footage of Steve Nash’s departure from the NBA.
No kids menu, no kids colouring sheets, and really not a place meant for kids.
But I would totally go there again on a night out with adults – provided I could bring myself to be less offended by their sandwich board.
Hope this helps decide if this place is for you.
Let me know in the comments below if there are any suggestions for places you think I should check out (with or without kids), and I’ll go!
